Automatic Tube Cleaning

In every water-cooled chiller, the condenser tubes are where efficiency is won or lost. Within weeks of a manual cleaning, a fresh layer of biofilm and soft scale starts forming on the tube walls. That thin layer acts like insulation: the chiller must work harder for the same cooling, and energy use creeps up — commonly by 10–20% over a season.

How It Works

The TechFile Automatic Tube Cleaning System injects sponge rubber balls into the condenser water flow. The balls are slightly larger than the tube inner diameter, so as they pass through they wipe the tube walls clean. A separator unit catches the balls after each pass and returns them to the injector, ready for the next cycle. The whole process runs automatically, on a timer, while the chiller stays online.

Key Benefits

  • Holds chiller efficiency at design level all year round
  • Saves up to 20% of the energy fouling would otherwise waste
  • No shutdowns or manual tube brushing
  • Reduces chemical treatment demand for condenser water
  • Extends tube life by preventing under-deposit corrosion
  • Pays back typically within one to two cooling seasons

Where It Fits

Shell-and-tube condensers in hotels, hospitals, malls, industrial plants and district cooling — any water-cooled chiller whose energy bill matters.
